Masks
| We bring you
beautifully hand made Thai Khon masks, Bali Barong Masks, andTibetan Deities masks .
These are
hand carved from wood, made from layers of paper mache with casted plaster.
There are probably two hundred
to three hundred different types of masks. They can be divided into
five basic categories: demon, monkey, celestial, human, and animal
masks. The masks
that we carry below are just a representative. If you are
looking for a specific mask, please feel free to contact us. These
beautiful masks come with a stand ready to be displayed in your
desired space. Tibetan deities masks are made by local Tibetan
artists in Lhasa, Tibet. If you are looking for
larger sizes, please contact us.
The khon
masked drama is derived from Indian temple rituals and dancing and
draws its story line from the Ramakian, the Thai version of the
Indian epic Ramayana.
Khon was originally developed
as an exclusively Royal entertainment, popular at the courts of
Ayutthaya and later of Rattanakosin. For more information on
the Khon masks, please visit the
Khon Mask Making site or contact
us.
